Inner Beauty Is… with Kemi Nekvapil

Life coach, speaker, author and raw food advocate, Kemi Nekvapil, inspires audiences across the world by sharing stories of her life. She is captivating, warm, creative and wholehearted, inspiring us all to realise that where you start in life is not where you have to end up.

Beautiful inside and out, Kemi’s insights are as refreshing as they are empowering…

You have had the most incredibly varied career, from chef to actress to yoga teacher. How has each career helped form the woman you are today?

I feel very blessed to have been born with great intuition and to trust that intuition. Everything I have done I was fully passionate about at the time. From being a baker, to a chef, to an actor, to a yoga teacher, and now as a professional coach, speaker and published author, they all have my heart in some way.

Real food and a 23 year yoga and meditation practice are what allow me to do the work I do, acting informs how I give keynotes and workshops. With my life work now focused on coaching, speaking and writing, I needed to have done everything that came before to be who I am today.

I believe that we are meant to grow. We create new chapters and each chapter allows us to step more and more into who we are, but we have to be willing to grow and growth can be painful.

What does "feeling centred" mean to you?

For me, feeling centred is about giving as much time to myself as I do to everyone else in my life. I always feel centred in nature, reading Country Style magazine (#true), on my yoga mat, gardening and daydreaming

The last 12 months has really seen female empowerment become a much needed part of the zeitgeist. Is this something that you have also seen brewing with your clients over recent years? How do you feel women are evolving and finding a voice?

We are in a time of incredible change and much of that change has begun because women have started to use their voices. Part of my work as a coach is to allow space for each woman to acknowledge who she is, who she wants to be and support her to bridge the gap. To own her dreams, her challenges and her voice. The more of us that can stand in our personal power and use our voices is a must and with that privilege, I believe we must speak for those women that cannot. We are all in this together.

What does inner beauty mean to you?

Inner beauty is a form of beauty that no billboard, passing comment or trend can take away from us. Inner beauty is a beauty that every woman owns for herself and it needs to be nourished and honoured.

Can you give us an example of a time you’ve listened to your gut instinct?

I am very much a ‘gut’ person. Things only go wrong when I don’t listen, so I always do. Even if everything appears ‘perfect ’ if my gut says no, it’s a no. It works for me.

What do you do to get your daily GLOW on?

I sweat six days week. I eat from mother nature’s table (I think that includes ice-cream), I sleep, I meditate. I surround myself with inspiring people. I laugh a lot. I am grateful. I am curious.

Sometimes all I want to do is… live in Country Style magazine!

When all else fails… have a candlelit bubble bath.

Connection is the answer. To self and others.
