When I first began experimenting with lacto-fermenting ingredients in my Bondi kitchen, it was simply to help improve the health and wellbeing of my family. Very quickly though, I realised I was onto something and wanted to share this knowledge more broadly. With the launch of GLOW in 2009, there was no ‘inner beauty’ category so it was certainly a challenge to break into the mainstream beauty market. But I trusted my intuition and knew that it was important to help shift the existing paradigm of the beauty industry and help to educate our community about the power of the gut-skin connection.
As a brand, we are always looking to innovate, drawing on the latest research to deliver products that are as efficacious as they are delicious. That’s why we recently reimagined the GLOW formula, and why I’m thrilled to introduce you to our supercharged Inner Beauty Boosts.
Our Supercharged Process
What sets The Beauty Chef apart from other brands is our holistic view of health, beauty and wellbeing. Unlike other probiotic supplements, which often only contain one or two strains of bacteria, our unique bio-fermentation process, Flora Culture™, involves introducing 12 species of beneficial bacteria into our ingredients to create a natural, broad-spectrum probiotic to support gut health and glowing skin.
In our new state-of-the-art plant in Sydney, we’ve come to know our beneficial bacteria even better so have tailor-made the fermentation process to suit their needs. The result? Even more potent, bioavailable products with more probiotics and postbiotics.
Another exciting addition to the new formulas is Lactobacillus rhamnosus GUT5Y™, our exclusive probiotic strain that supports digestive wellbeing and skin health. Lactobacillus rhamnosus is one of the world's most widely studied species of probiotics and comes with a wealth of research.
Our Supercharged Ingredients
One of my favourite parts of developing new formulas is researching unique and powerful wholefood ingredients that will help people be the happiest, healthiest versions of themselves.
As well as more probiotics, our supercharged Boosts also contain exciting new skin-and-gut-loving nutrients, plus we’ve upped the potency of key vitamins and minerals.
If our Essentials are the foundation of your daily inner beauty routine—your internal moisturiser—then Boosts are like your internal serum, targeted to specific skin concerns and designed to amplify the benefits of GLOW or DAILY SUPERGREENS. Here’s how I mix and match the range...
When my skin is feeling flat...
My go-to Boost, COLLAGEN still contains bio-fermented papaya and grapeseed extracts, but we’ve added pomegranate peel extract, gotu kola, organic goji, acai and maqui berries, plus more vitamin C to support collagen production and extra zinc for healthy hair and nails.
When my skin is feeling dull...
Designed to brighten the skin from within, ANTIOXIDANT still contains papaya and green tea, but we’ve added apple cider vinegar, plus elderberry and selenium to support a healthy immune system, which is why I often add it to my routine during the cooler months. Environmental stressors like air pollution cause free radical damage—a major cause of premature ageing—which vitamin C, another new ingredient in the SUPERCHARGED FORMULA, helps protect against. It also has a new not-too-sweet strawberry flavour, which I hope you love as much as I do.
When my skin is feeling thirsty...
Perfect when you’re feeling depleted after exercise, or on those days I don’t drink as much water as I would like to, HYDRATION replenishes lacklustre skin from the inside, out. Still with coconut water, the new formula contains trace minerals and magnesium derived from red seaweed for electrolyte balance. It also includes cucumber water and finger lime, an antioxidant-rich superfruit that’s been a traditional bush food and medicine for Indigenous Australian people for thousands of years, which both contribute to the refreshing new taste. Don’t forget that there’s a difference between skin that’s dehydrated—lacking water—and dry—lacking oil; OMEGA ELIXIR™ was created for the latter.
When my skin is feeling tired...
Finally, ADAPTOGEN is the newest addition to our Inner Beauty Boost range and has been a real game-changer for me. Created for tired-looking skin and to help calm ruddy complexions, it contains bio-fermented papaya and adaptogenic herbs ashwagandha and holy basil, which is known by many as ‘liquid yoga’. Activated vitamins B6 and B12 help reduce fatigue and recharge your energy, so when I’m feeling drained or stressed internally, it’s the Boost I turn to.
